Ewon - PLC Communication - instruaravind - 22-06-2016

  archi.JPG (Size: 17,17 KB / Downloads: 77) Dear Sir,
I have two PLC with different Protocol (one is ProfiNET(Siemens S7) and another one is ModbucTCP). I want to communicate these two PLC.
Two PLCs are connected to common Ethernet switch. From that switch a single ethernet cable connected to eWON LAN port.
By the above architecture and configuration, can i communicate my eWON with PLCs. I have attached sample sketch of the Architecture. Kindly Reply me.

Correct me if I'm wrong: I think you can definitely use a single eWon to talk to more than 2 networked PLCs of different types. The limit here is dependent on the number of the IOServers that ewon can support at the same time.
You may also get rid of the switch if not need for any other networked devices, since the eWon Flexy 201 has already 4 LAN ports.

I have used the eWon to talk to 2 PLCs (same type though), but adding a new PLC of different type is just simply creating a new PLC-IO server in the eWon that it already supports.
If your PLCs are in different subnets, you can also configure the eWon's submasks to communicate to both.

Following up on this questions, how many IOServers can ewon support at the same time?

Thanks for your Reply, since we have using Flexy 102 (Only one Port). Is it possible to communicate 2 PLC with different Protocol?. I think we have to use 2 IOserver, One is Modbus and another one is Profinet(S7300 and S7400).

I think it is doable, one LAN port does not mean it cannot talk to multiple networked devices. In this case, you may need the network switch then.

Yes, it is possible to do. Look at that document : https://ewon.biz/sites/default/files/kb-0199-0-en-store_and_forward_tags.pdf (I recommend the ONCHANGE method). This is in the case both PLC are Slaves.
Now, if your Modbus TCP Client (Master), you can simply use the Tag publishing of the eWON: https://ewon.biz/sites/default/files/kb-0184-0-en-publish_tags_in_modbus_tcp.pdf
