Test the DataMailbox with an Excel sheet - simon - 21-11-2016

Hi Friends,

There is now an Excel Sheet example available on https://developer.ewon.biz/content/synchronizing-datamailbox-through-excel that features a DataMailbox driver developed in VBA.

You just fill your Talk2M account credentials + your Dev ID and you can retrieve the eWON historical data directly in Excel.

Some of you have some difficulties to use it.

Here are the steps to follow (

  1. Click on "Enable Contents"
  2. Fill your Talk2M credentials as well as your DevID
  3. Click "Update List" and select an eWON
  4. Click "Update List" and select a Tag
  5. Click "Download Last Data From DataMailbox"

Hi,

For example, we have a system eWON-PLC, connected by Modbus-RTU.

Is it possible to send simple e-mail to eWon (using DataMailbox) and than translate data to PLC?
In general, can we control the PLC via e-mail using eWon?

Thanks!

RE: Test the DataMailbox with an Excel sheet - simon - 22-02-2017

No, we cannot do unfortunately. Indeed, the eWON does not support the POP3 or IMAP protocol to read mails.
Moreover, the DataMailbox has nothing to do with emails actually ;-) Please, read https://developer.ewon.biz/content/dmweb-api

I am trying out this spread sheet and have followed all instructions. Whenever I click any of the update list buttons, I get a VBA error "Object Required". Has anyone else seen / solved this?

Edit: Nevermind... Need to put data from an eWon into Datamailbox first..

RE: Test the DataMailbox with an Excel sheet - Henry - 29-01-2018

Hi Simon,
I am working in a new project and I would like to know if it is possible. There is a SCADA which is connected to an EWON FLEXY 202 by its LAN connection. If it is possible to get some documents (for example data base) from the SCADA from another remote PC through Talk2M or by other way.
I know the Software Esync but it is not what I am looking for, but to obtein the documents when I need them. I have been trying with the Desktop remote option, but the screen of the SCADA is black when I am doing that.
I am looking forward to hearing from you in order to have any solutions.
Yours sincerely,
Harry

Hi,

This probably means that your credentials or the Developer ID is incorrect.
Please double check.

Simon

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your quick reply.

Credentials and the Developer ID was correct only. Data is not get downloaded from Data MailBox when Two-factor authentication enabled. once Two-factor authentication disabled its working. There is any way to add Two-factor authentication in this excel ?

RE: Test the DataMailbox with an Excel sheet - simon - 09-10-2018

Good remark!
Indeed, users with two-factor authentication CANNOT be used with the Talk2MAPI.
Thanks for the feedback
