MQTT interface - WAN only? - mnieuzyla - 13-01-2020

Hi,

As I run through MQTT examples, all are communicating on the WAN interface with MQTT broker somewhere in the Internet (and it makes sense as it is gathering data from remote sites).
However, I've been asked about application where remote sites are connected via the Ethernet (so, local network), but customer wants to communicate with central server via MQTT.

Is it mandatory to use WAN connection, or it is possible to connect to broker over LAN?

Hi,

Sorry for the very late reply on that.

Yes, it is possible to use MQTT without any WAN card. I have tested it with a Flexy 201 (frw14.1) with my LAN set in DHCP and it works fine
